Terry's Testimony
I was born and raised Jewish. But I understood from a young age that I could have been born into another religion.... And that just because you're born into a religion doesn't mean it's Truth. I've always felt a close connection with God. I didn't just want to know about Him. I wanted to KNOW Him. So in college I began to study Eastern,metaphysical religions and philosophies. After college I hitch-hiked to Alaska and bought a commercial fishing boat. While I was in Alaska I saw an advertisement for a course in Transcendental Meditation. I took the course, and within a year I was in Switzerland for 3 months with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, training to become a teacher of TM. I taught TM in Oregon, Iowa, and California full-time for 3 years. During that time I became involved in a part-time business that worked with books on "success principles." I started to attend a once-a-week lunch seminar on Biblical success priciples taught by a pastor. I was living in San Diego at the time. I was moved that God wanted me to read the New Testament, which I had never done, being raised Jewish. (I had had strong thoughts in the past that I felt were God's promptings to do certain things. This was another one of those times.) I didn't think that it was to become a Christian. I thought God wanted to show me in the Bible that Jesus was meta-physical, that he believed what Maharishi believed. When I read the New Testament, I saw 300 prophesies from the Old Testament fulfilled in great detail through the life of Jesus. I could not explain it. At that time I was also around several miraculous healings, as the pastor who was teaching the Biblical success principles prayed for people. I could not explain that either. So I started meeting once a week with the pastor to question him on what I was reading in the Bible. That went on for 6 months. Then, on Dec. 31, 1982, my wife and children and I went down to the beach in San Diego with our pastor friend. We all prayed a prayer confessing Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We then were baptized in the Pacific Ocean. And we were then baptized in the Holy Spirit. I immediately started praying for the sick, and over the years have seen well over 1000 people miraculously healed by God. I've written several books, one on marketplace ministry, and have appeared regularly on Christian television. I also preach regularly in churches and in prisons. My family and I recognize that our lives are not about us. We are here to serve our Lord 100%, to honor Him, to glorify Him, and to be a blessing to Him and His children. To Him be all honor and glory and praise!
